A Qatari institute named Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has printed and distributed 760,000 copies of Holy Quran as part its project ‘Typyan’ to print and distribute one million copies around the world. In the second phase of the project, RAF has printed 280,000 copies for distribution in Niger, Sierra Leone and the Philippines.
According to a plan for the second phase of the project, RAF will distribute the 280,000 copies in the three countries — 80,000 in Niger; 120,000 in Sierra Leone and 80,000 in the Philippines.
RAF said the copies for the Philippines is the first such huge quantity to enter the country.
RAF has also started printing 120,000 copies in six languages and will distribute them to Islamic communities in the countries where these languages are spoken.
Through the project, RAF is keen to meet the needs of the Muslims around the world and has targeted 50 countries across the world, especially in Africa, Asia and Europe.
RAF accomplished the first phase of the project by printing and distributing 505,000 copies in Africa, Asia and America — 40,000 each in Mauritania, Kenya, Senegal, Gambia; and Uganda; 80,000 each in Niger and Tanzania; 120,000 in Sierra Leone; and 25,000 in Mali.
It is also distributing 53,000 copies in several African countries.
The project has cost QR10m with each copy costing about QR10.
